Even though we love creating CG animals from scratch, working with live buffalo was fun as well. After consulting with the animal wrangler about the buffalo’s possibilities we planned carefully how to shoot layers that we needed for later compositing it into shots.

Besides that we created a few complex moody city backdrops in matte paint and plenty of retouches, because the buffalo is not easy to control so we had to use safety wires to keep it away from the crew.
